6 Reasons Why You Should you Have a Presence on YouTube as an Influencer + YouTube Tips

While you’re building your audience and brand as an Influencer, YouTube is an excellent platform to take advantage of.

Keep reading for 6 reasons why having a presence on YouTube is so valuable.

1. YouTube is a great way to diversify platforms

I’ve seen many Influencers only using 1 platform and it’s best NOT to do this since you never know when platforms may lose their popularity over time. It’s extremely important to always diversify, and have a presence on more than just 1 or 2 platforms.

2. YouTube makes it easier to search for content

YouTube is the second most powerful search engine in the world, ranking right behind google. YouTube is also way more search friendly than platforms such as Instagram. When searching for topics using YouTube, users are able to be more specific in their search.

To make sure your content is optimized for search make sure you are using the right keywords, adding keywords in the description box, and using keywords in the title of your video.

3. YouTube pays their Creators

YouTube allows users to monetize videos by placing ads in them via Adsense. To qualify for this, you need at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch hours within the last 12 months. This is another incentive to not only upload to YouTube but for you to be consistent with your uploads.

4. YouTube content is easily sharable

YouTube content can be easily shared to FaceBook, Twitter, Pinterest, through email and more. This gives you an even better chance of reaching a larger audience of people and will help you grow your brand a lot quicker.

Videos also generate 1200% more shares than pictures and text.

5. More brand deal money for You

The more platforms you have an audience on, the higher you can charge brands when negotiating brand deals.

6. Video content is becoming increasingly popular

People prefer to watch videos vs read articles these days! It’s estimated that by 2022, videos will make up more than 82% of consumer internet traffic. Majority of people are visual learners, and videos make things a lot easier for people to understand.

Tips for YouTube:

  • Use a browser extension such as TubeBuddy to help you grow your channel, choose the right video titles and keywords and make your videos overall more search friendly.

  • Make your title exactly what the video is about. Make sure the title addresses the exact question your target audience will be searching for.

  • Organize playlists for your channel to make videos for your audience more easy to find & access.

  • Don’t make your YouTube videos too long. YouTube ranks videos based off of Retention and watch time.

  • Make sure you channel name is the same as your other social channels. (keep your brand consistent across all platforms)

If you’re an Influencer and have not made YouTube a priority yet, do yourself a favor and START NOW!

I hope this article helps when it comes to deciding if you should have a presence on YouTube while you’re working to build your Influencer brand.
